Employees of different ages

Young adults, middle-aged and older employees meet in working life. There is experience, new energy, uncertainty, self-confidence and an all-encompassing spectrum of different emotions and needs belonging to age and life situations. For those starting their working career, orientation and job guidance are emphasized, but at the same time, new skills and energy are brought to the workplace. At the same time, middle-aged people may have a lot of maintenance responsibilities, but they are also often already experienced key personnel in the workplace, so the load can increase. Aging often brings with it changes in physical and sensory capabilities, but at the same time expertise and strategic thinking are well developed.

It can be thought that the spectrum of these feelings, skills, differences and needs is so wide that it is not possible to take everything into account, but one should not be discouraged because there is potential.

Efforts should be made to ensure that representatives of different generations work together as well as possible, respecting and harmonizing each other's strengths. The question is whether the differences in the skills of employees of different ages in the workplace are seen as an asset and a factor that strengthens the workplace, or are they perceived as a challenging matter on the contrary? In order to know how to utilize different characteristics, individual differences must first be recognized and the tensions between people of different ages must also be recognized, which can appear as insecurities related to one's own position.
